Eugene Armstrong Execution - American Hostage kidnapped in Iraq
Posted (six) on December-15-2007 Read More

Eugene Armstrong - Our hearts bleed and our prayers go out to the families of these men that had to live through this nightmare. I post these on here so people never forget nor ever forgive the barbaric acts commited against innocent non-military men, by a group of very angry people that like to hide beneath masks and a veil of mis-guided religious duty.

I know the family of one of these executed hostages came out to say they find forgiveness in their hearts towards the executioners, but I can not see how monsters can ever be forgiven by anyone. These men went to the middle East to work, not to fight any battle, they had no political or military agenda.

After being taken hostage, Armstrong was beheaded on 20 September 2004 by the Tawhid and Jihad militant group led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is believed to have personally beheaded Armstrong. The following day, the group beheaded fellow American Jack Hensley, and threatened to kill their third hostage, Briton Kenneth Bigley, unless the United States met their demands to free all women prisoners in Iraqi jails. execution" target="_blank">Bigley was later beheaded in October 2004.

It took several minutes for Eugene Armstrong to be beheaded due to the use by his captors of a small knife. On holding up Armstrong’s head to the camera, the captors yelled “Allah Akbar”.
When footage of Armstrong’s murder was posted on the internet, the host for the Tawhid and Jihad website, HostingAnime, defended its content citing “free speech”.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) 2004 — An Islamist Web site showed video of an American hostage in Iraq being beheaded by members of insurgent leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi’s group.

The video showed American Eugene Armstrong sitting in front of five masked insurgents — four of them armed with assault rifles and one in the middle reading from a paper statement. The five insurgents were dressed in black.

“We will apply God’s law on them,” a masked man said just before the killing.

Armstrong wore an orange jumpsuit and was blindfolded, with his arms behind him. He occasionally fidgeted while the statement was being read.

The group Jihad and Unification gave a new 24-hour deadline to meet its demand that Muslim women be released from Iraqi prisons or the other hostages will be killed. The group previously released a video of three hostages — two Americans and a Briton.

“Since you didn’t release our sisters, here’s the first infidel,” the man said.

He then pulled out a knife. Armstrong was shoved to the ground and his head severed.

The video was posted on a Web site that has been used by insurgents in the past.

Armstrong, along with American Jack Hensley and British citizen Kenneth John Bigley, were kidnapped from their residence Thursday. All three worked for Gulf Supplies and Commercial Services, a company based in the Middle East, on reconstruction projects

We have seen this same scene far too often now.

from a site called warriers for truth, I found this paragraph on why beheading and executions is excepted as a modern religious practice.

According to Muhammad’s sacralized biography by Ibn Ishaq, Muhammad himself sanctioned the massacre of the Qurayza, a vanquished Jewish tribe. He appointed an “arbiter” who soon rendered this concise verdict: the men were to be put to death, the women and children sold into slavery, the spoils to be divided among the Muslims. Muhammad ratified this judgment stating that it was a decree of God pronounced from above the Seven Heavens. Thus some 600 to 900 men from the Qurayza were lead on Muhammad’s order to the Market of Medina. Trenches were dug and the men were beheaded, and their decapitated corpses buried in the trenches while Muhammad watched in attendance. Women and children were sold into slavery, a number of them being distributed as gifts among Muhammad’s companions, and Muhammad chose one of the Qurayza women (Rayhana) for himself. The Qurayza’s property and other possessions (including weapons) were also divided up as additional “booty” among the Muslims, to support further jihad campaigns.

I don’t know, I think everyone should be allowed to practice whatever beliefs they please, but to me, it seems that religion has for many thousands of years been mis-used as a vehicle for intolerence, hate, torture, murder and racism by many groups… I doubt that is what GOD had in mind for humanity… maybe its time for some to check out the 10 commandments again, or their version of them… my 2 cents.
